Indian OceanOn clear coastal reefs and in lagoons, schooling over branching corals. In lagoons often in small groups above long-spined red urchins. Shrimpfishes are a small family of peculiar species which have adapted to a vertical position in life, swimming head -down. Pairs or large schools, comprising countless individuals, swim in a synchronised fashion, all turning at the same time.
